Solid Design and Detail was hired to model and detail the new Spillway Lift Auxiliary Beam (SLAB) at McNary Lock & Dam on the Columbia River for the United States Army Corp of Engineers. Complex fabrication projects with structural and mechanical elements like this are where we really have an opportunity to demonstrate our capabilities. Mechanical functionality studies, GD&T, and calculating machine allowance and shrinkage all within heavy structural weldments and assemblies. The only thing missing from this project were some sheet metal flat patterns and we would have used just about all of SolidWorks’ features!

SDD supported the 3D design and detailed this project in its entirety. This included complete 3D BIM Models, Shop Drawings, Assembly and Erection Drawings, Bill of Materials, Sheetmetal Flat Patterns and .DXF files to CNC all steel plates.
